ContiTech Vibration Control Steps Up Activities in the Nafta Zone

ContiTech Vibration Control has opened a new production site in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Located eight kilometers away from ContiTech Mexicana’s headquarters, the plant has been producing engine mounts for installation as automotive original equipment since April 2009. By 2012 around 150 employees will be employed there, producing up to one million engine mount systems a year. Through 2011 ContiTech will be investing approx. €8 million in production facilities, infrastructure and information technology. This is in addition to approx. €5.4 million in tool investments to be partially borne by the customers. The plants to be supplied are in Mexico and the US and thus likewise in the NAFTA zone. Hydro-bushings and hydromounts are already slated for production this year, followed by plastic bearings in 2010 ...

Hannover Messe 2009: ContiTech Satisfied

Wind power dominates the trade show • Vibration technology allows ContiTech to position itself very well

The still booming wind power industry was the dominant topic at this year’s Hannover Messe. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, Germany’s Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, also came around to fill himself in on the latest in this regard. ContiTech Vibration Control profited from the general interest in wind power and was able to provide information on SCHWINGMETALL© and MEGI© products. Both help wind power stations deal with the mighty forces they are up against. In an interview with the RTL television station conducted at ContiTech’s trade show booth, general manager Kai Uwe Frühauf explained what was at stake: “These days the pods weigh up to 250 tonnes. Strong and erratic wind forces must also be coped with. In other words, the whole plant is subject to enormous vibrational stress. Elastic bearing systems are needed to shield these plants from the vibration.” ...

ContiTech extends range of marine mounts

Improved vibration comfort for large yachts • Innovative mount sets new standards in vibration control technology for medium-sized boat engines • More marine mounts are planned

ContiTech Vibration Control, the specialist in elastomer bearings, is extending its MEGI® range of marine mounts to include the new BD-20k-MLA engine mounting. The innovative product has excellent vibration isolation and a high load-bearing capacity. “The mount is designed for boat engines with a rating of up to 1,800 horsepower. It is ideally suited for main and auxiliary engines on large motor yachts,” explains Peter Eckwerth, head of industrial research and development at ContiTech Vibration Control. The BD-20k-MLA and all other elastic marine mountings from ContiTech help to ensure that the vibrations from large diesel engines cannot be spread through the engine base to the hull of the boat. This significantly reduces severe vibrations and excessive noise and considerably improves the comfort for passengers on board motor boats. ...
